Re: Recipe ideas needed

Soups or salads are good options to fill yourself up. The more nonstarchy vegetables, the better although sweet potatoes in moderation (one medium sized per meal). Watch the salad dressings as the oil in it is is high calorie item. Soups: get some broth, add many vegetables such as tomatoes, celery,...

Re: Spreading the Word in Pamphlet Form!!!

Sadly the pamphlet is no longer available. Did someone purge the internet? I do believe the internet is in dire need of a laxative. I would love to print out a few pamphlets and go and distribute them legally. None of this leaving pamphlets in library books, on public transit or in public washrooms....

Re: Do animals go to the Pastafarian Heaven?

So, i was curious would an animal like a gorilla or ape go to our version of a heaven? how about a goldfish or a rat? Ive learned that Dolphins and orca's may also be as smart or even more intelligent than humans, would they enjoy a beer volcano and strippers as well? I just recently opened the Gos...

Re: How many people have read the bible?

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I read the bible through at least three times cover to cover. I usually read chapters at a time or look up different topics with a concordance or internet search. I have asked many Christians if they have read the bible. Most have not. Not cover to cover or even chapt...

Re: Rice conghee

Too bad about your brother. Sad to hear about suffering. The blender is a good idea. We were doing such a thing for granny. She really did like pudding cups. The rest of the family was scolding her for not eating her mush meals and in the end I was running over to the store to buy pudding and tellin...

Rice conghee

I made a big pot of rice and chicken conghee chock full of green onions, garlic and fresh ginger slices, yum. I am still enjoying it. Next I will try adding some fish and shrimp to it. The ginger was not sliced thinly enough so I might use some jarred ginger paste next time. I used a crockpot and sl...

Re: Going organic

Try sprouting some of your own food. I bought this contraption from an ethnic store. It cost about $20. It is three clear plastic trays that nest on each other. There is a drain hole in the bottom of each. It also has a lid and a bottom to catch the water. I tried lentils which I did not like raw bu...

Re: The Evil Hand

Interesting history of superstitions. I will secretly laugh when interact with the lefthandphobic. When I am using my right hand that is the one I use to wipe by butt. At least the FSM does not demand we purify our dwelling or pirate ship with boiled pasta water or something equally ridiculous if we...

The Evil Hand

I am left handed. Maybe I was born that way. From my earliest days I reached for my spoon and crayons with my left hand. My family declared "oh a left handed child" but should we try to "correct" that? Both my grandfathers were left handed. One had an Irish mother who let it slid...

Re: Straining by pouring, dipping or pot insert?

I have used all methods of pasta straining. Sometimes you have to be creative in low resource environments for example when camping and someone forgot to pack the strainer. I heard about a sock being used. I hope it was clean. I use the pasta pot with insert 90% of the time. It saves all the cooking...

Straining by pouring, dipping or pot insert?

Straining your spagehtti by pouring it into a colander, dipping a large basket like spoon into the pot tomremove the pasta from the water or using a pasta pot with a strainer insert - I have even cooked pasta in the microwave with minimal water not needing straining at all - although it does not tas...

Re: RECIPES

I like pasta with peanut butter and soy sauce. It is good with spaghetti. Some chopped onion and garlic, ginger fried in oil of choice. Some chopped red bell pepper fried up. Some curry paste can be added or chili flakes and then the peanut butter, water and soy sauce. The peanut butter clumps up an...

Food Banks

Do you use food banks? Have you ever used them? Do you volunteer at them? Do you donate to them? I find most of the food banks were I live, Canada, are run out of religious organizations such as churches. Is religious indoctrination part of the food distribution to the poor? What so you thnk about f...

Re: The New Convert Thread - MAKE YOUR FIRST POST HERE

Thanks Better to wear the colander or pirate gear than a food/love bomber vest then. I would not like to get shot. I would like to do more about food drives. I am thinking that most food banks in my area are run by churches or other religious organizations. Is this true of most places in Canada and ...
