UK 2016

All the pirate festivals I can find are either 10 days early, or a month late! What IS going on?

Any events on the right days?
Thinking about setting a meetup myself at this rate...

Kiva: the Mormons are beating us!

For years, we've done well at holding the #1 slot for religious congregation lending.
The Mormons have snuck past us when we weren't looking.

Our Pirate Wedding is on Saturday!

Our local newspaper came round and interviewed us after my grandmother rang them up to tell them we're having a strange wedding. They've mangled several of the details, but eh, it's started some interesting discussions on Pastafarianism :D http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/Aye-Pirates-course-swashbu...

Re: Spaghetti recipes?

My favourite recipe is a bit complicated, and requires a little bit of planning. Ingredients: Phone. Transport. Money. First, use the phone, preferably at least an hour beforehand, but anywhere up to a month or so in advance will suffice, to book a table at Da Vinci's. Prepare your transport, and gi...

Re: Gnocchi, technically pasta?

Definitely. That's the beauty of pasta - you can make it with pretty much anything that can be turned into a flour.
I LOVE sweet cocoa in my pasta mix - it makes AWESOME ravioli when filled with sweet sauces. :D

I agree entirely - the problem is that other religions do not.

Re: Is it Piracy? Political goals of FSMism: opinions, pleas

Ah I see. Common beliefs don't have to be controlled by religion - ethics and laws are definitely better off when religions aren't involved. I'm looking at global privileges - but the UK and the US are similar. The issues with religious tax exemptions are well laid out here: http://atheism.about.com...

Re: Is it Piracy? Political goals of FSMism: opinions, pleas

Being ID'd? Because if you don't have ID with you, you don't get served. With regards to Robin Hood - well, your main problem there is stealing is not ethical to start with. "charity organizations using some money to promote themselves" - which would be great, if the churches were held to ...

Re: Is it Piracy? Political goals of FSMism: opinions, pleas

Reverend, I really like that! :D Ispy - sadly, to get involved with education is to get political. Furthermore, "From that it's a small step to violent crime. From that it's only one more step to murder." - I have to advise you to look up what a "slippery slope fallacy" is, as yo...

Re: Is it Piracy? Political goals of FSMism: opinions, pleas

Colanders are eminently practical. But as headwear, equally as silly as other religious garbs. Read that as you will. :) So long as you're enjoying your instruments with either yourself or consenting others of legal age and mental status, then I have no issues with it. Come to think of it, same goes...

Re: Is it Piracy? Political goals of FSMism: opinions, pleas

Well, the whole thing's just a tad on the ridiculous side anyway - rarely does religious headgarb obstruct identifying features, with exception to veils, of course. (But that's a bit silly in an identification photo, just food for thought...)
