Re: Straining by pouring, dipping or pot insert?

All of this ignores a more fundamental question, one that aroused strong passions a few years back. To wit, when one opens a soft-boiled egg, is it more appropriate to open the big end or the small end. I happen to ascribe to the principles of the Smallendians, and defy anyone to provide a cogent ex...

Even some of the fish long thought belly-up still come 'round once in a while. This joint is too inneresting to let go completely to seed.

Re: The New Convert Thread - MAKE YOUR FIRST POST HERE

Greetings Warpde! It doth appear the rest of the crew be on vacation, and if I had any smarts I too would be. That leaves me and thee, and I be uncertain of your excuse. Be that as it may, go forth and post, and remember to genuflect to his noodliness. A grog to thee in gud health.

His Noodliness acknowledges your humble appeal to prostrate yourself before him. Your title for now? New Convert it is, matey. Now go forth and be wise.

Actually, it's the second time it's happened to me. The first time was when the Toadfish pulled out nearly 2 years ago. If my posts from that section of the forum were included along with those just lost, I'd be way over the 5,000 mark.

Such is life in the fast lane.

Re: Hey! This is new!

Hey, I lost a lot, too, I'm learning to cope. In all fairness, you can pretty much do whatever you want with this place, including assigning ranks at random, or to yourself, regardless of post count. But I can't. I lost more than half my posts. I went from 4200 to 1660. And none of them were in gam...

I recently watched "One Night With The Kjng". It is part of the Fox-Faith series, and is based on the O.T. Book of Esther. After watching the movie - which was pretty good - I went back and re-read Esther to compare (KJ version). The movie is true to the Bible almost word-for-word, until t...

We just watched Copying Beethoven . It's set in Vienna in 1824, and involves a young woman engaged as the Maestro's copyist (the copyist will take the scratched up original and transcribe it into a clean sheet that musicians can actually play from). It tells the story of the first performance of the...

Aye matey, indeed he is mightily pleased. But you needn't souse yourself with beer - a good Chianti pleases him as much.

We rented a copy of Borat. Neither of us found it to be 'pee in your pants funny' as was claimed. Most of it was rather sophomoric, but there were a few spots that were funny. On a scale of 1-4, I'd give it about a 1.5.

The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins. After hearing it talked about so much here I put it on my list. Somehow I don't think it needs much description.
