Re: What are you reading right now?

a common point people are making that I would like to address: 1: you're going to need grammar to impress people! yeah, I know. I do check my actual school papers carefully for errors. (and usualy still get graded down for the one or two that I miss) however, here I don't think it's realy that ness...

Re: What are you reading right now?

I think that the grammatical quality of what gets posted here absolutely reflects on your opinion of the group in general. I myself make a fair number of errors in my posts. This is because while I like you all well enough, I'm not so enamored of you as to go back and proof read every frickin' word ...

Re: Did you hear who died?

Sounds a bit complicated - he was in a rough landing a few days ago on a U.S. Airways plane and hit his head.

Re: Did you hear who died?

Michael Jackson is not the most famous person in the world. Well, he may be right now, but he wasn't a week ago. The most famous person in the world is always the most famous person right now. This is because people in remote areas that are just now catching up with modern technology (mainly tv) are...

Re: What are you reading right now?

On the contrary, it is all about subjective evaluations and how people's perceptions are formed. Absolute truth has little value when we talk about color, because we really don't know the absolute truth. In that case the term is absolutely useless when discussing who oppressed who and when. The whi...

Re: What are you reading right now?

I do want to put it that way. That is well and good. Then make that distinction. I should not have to emphasize a distinction that is presumed as a matter of course. Furthermore, all white people may be Caucasian, but in reality not all Caucasians are white people. Hence the distinction of Arabs as...

But somehow, I was saddened. Never again will I hear another song like 'Billie Jean' or 'Thriller'...

Yeah, but that has been true for the past 15 years he was still alive.

Re: What are you reading right now?

So the baggage the rest of us carry is justifiable, i guess... Well, the Arabs did a lot of bad shit too, so you aren't totally, inexcusably alone. Aren't the Arabian peoples from the Caucuses also, making them white people, too? Well, if you want to put it that way, the inhabitants of India and No...

Holy freekin crap!
He was a strange dude, but talented.
Three in one week, they must be planning a talent show someplace.

That was a long time coming, though. Apparently she hadn't even been well enough to speak for some weeks now. Sad for her family, her son has been having a hard time lately.

Re: What are you reading right now?

I'm reading Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee by Dee Brown. One of the saddest books I've ever read. Almost makes me ashamed to be born White, if I wasn't rational enough to realize that I personally wasn't responsible for the atrocities we committed against... well, pretty much every other race on thi...
