Re: The Video Games Thread

Finally made it to level 100 in warcraft about a week or so ago ... been fleshing out my garrison and slowly upgrading my gear rating since.

I'll say one thing about WoW - unlike a lot of games out there, it has some decent endgame content.

Re: What are you EATING right now?

Curried shrimp over rice.

I have a recipe for homemade curry powder, if anyone wants it. I reverse engineered a version some years ago.

Re: What are you EATING right now?

Quick aside on celery for the benefit of onlookers ... for raw applications involving anything other than thin slice or small dice, it's best to de-string full size stalks of celery. A few light strokes along the backside of a rib will usually remove them. You can also slip a paring knife into the l...

Re: What are you EATING right now?

Major respect to/for your friend, for being a good samaritan.

Lunch today: I doctored up a package of instant ramen with sauteed thinly shaved onions & celery (celery is very underrated), a little garlic & cayenne, a handful of frozen peeled 51/60 shrimp, and a beaten raw egg.

Re: RECIPES

It's not so much as what brand to look for (because availability is sporadic, especially the further away you are from asian enclaves) as in knowing clues to avoid if choices allow you to do so. Fish sauce tends to darken/oxidize with time, so look for bottles have a lighter amber color rather than ...

Re: RECIPES

Me mum cooked this many times for me and me litter mates . It's chicken legs and/or thighs slowly cooked with spuds , or turnips/daikon , onions , ginger , a dash of soya , and oyster sauce ( amounts varied , dump the stuff in according to how you might like it ). Toss it in a slow cooker . This is...

My new favorite Jackie Chan flick . :fsm_rock:

Jackie's all time best movie is, without question, Drunken Master. It launched and defined his career.

Re: What are you DRINKNG right now?

Ok, homemade cashew milk turned out to be MUCH faster and easier than homemade soymilk (just soak 1 hr, drain, puree 60 sec with water 4:1, fine strain, then sweeten to taste ... couldnt be easier), and arguably tastes better ... and the leftover solids are tasty too, so unlike soybeans there's zero...

Re: What's The Last Movie You Saw?

I've just seen the Minions film. Very funny, especially with my childish sense of humour (there were times I was the only person in the cinema laughing). Not a thought-provoking drama or Oscar winner but enjoyable. They manage to work in evolution, Napoleon getting fired from a cannon, lots of slap...

Re: What are you DRINKNG right now?

I love that routine ... thx for the link. I'm mostly doing this for my wife, who's sensitive to a lot of cartoned milk and milk replacement products. I'm trying to isolate her problem to source material and/or specific additives. It's a labor of love. Next up will be trying my hand at making c...

Re: What are you DRINKNG right now?

Although tasty, and fun/inexpensive to make, the soymilk is just not quite as satisfying as milk ... and it doesn't go with cookies.
