Re: octopus = holy animal?

Cthulu for president! (Why settle for the lesser evil?) Since you people insisted on resurrecting this thread, I'll throw in a little neo-shamanist commentary based on the actions of the octopus in pieces o nine's link: When people are lonely or hungry for love (or just hungry), their cats will brin...

Re: Watcha listenin' to?

That "Thinking of You" video was hilarious, some combination of "Soylient Green" and "Welcome to the Monkey House" I think. Meanwhile, I'm listening to "Cusum Perficio" by Enya, just about as far from that as possible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd_DuEU6Mv...

You're banned for underestimating the power of the Protector. The Sentinel holds all gates.

Re: Watcha listenin' to?

Been listening most to Saami folk music, like this gem about a Swan at Dawnlight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46WW3D5a_TU&feature=related This plays the same song, but with tundra scenery and cool time-lapse shots of arctic days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTVc0aX1lc8 Hearing the traditio...

Re: What's The Last Movie You Saw?

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is awesome! Saw that recently on a recommendation, and it was hilarious. I've been watching extended interviews and biographies of famous scientists/pantheists on YouTube, trying to get a more in-depth perspective on guys like Richard Feynman, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Nick Tes...

Re: What are you EATING right now?

Just finished my breakfast of bacon, egg, and grapefruit. I'm back on spring training/diet, having a lot of insulation on me from the winter that needs to trim down so I can be active for the warm seasons. Big forest walk today to open the woods for springtime... yah, I'm basically 2 weeks late with...

You're banned just because I'm in the mood to ban something. Everyone else gets to!

Re: Legal restrictions and Pastafarian Ministers

I don't think I was clear. I'm trying to find out if Mr. Henderson has registered the church as a whole in some state somewhere. If he has, then his ministerial certificates alone should hold water all over the country. At that point, each local minister just has to do whatever filing/bookwork they ...

Re: Legal restrictions and Pastafarian Ministers

The hard part is figuring out if the church is already filed somewhere under Bobby's authority, unless someone wants to actually ask him... after all, he should have copyright controls that need to be obeyed. If he hasn't filed it, but he is willing to let someone else do it, it could be taken care ...

Re: Cult Classics

To ChowMein, regarding Strange Brew: The MacKenzie brothers were a big hit at least in northern USA (sometimes aka South Canadia). As I'm originally from northern Michigan (if not quite a true Yooper), I share more, culturally, with Canadians than with the bulk of USA. As I heard it, the MacKenzies'...

Re: What are you EATING right now?

Slab of meat. Red meat. Quick-seared sirloin steak, medium rare, loaded with salt & pepper & garlic; consecrated to spirits of earth, air and water that I may be one with the fire of its life; with lots of blood in it... ...and to drink: sweetened vanilla cow's milk spiked with vodka. My tot...

Re: What's The Last Movie You Saw?

About qualifying for an Oscar: I think there's a clear message there...Johnny Depp needs to play an aging drugged up, alcoholic Pirate at the end of his career struggling with the demons of his past and a huge sense of failure. Hey, now we know who all's on the board of the Academy! - - - - - Last m...

Re: Cult Classics

Thanks for that tip, PG! I put it in my queue. It looks brilliant. "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" No cult classic collection could be complete without mentioning the long-running TV show from Minnesota that showcases (and roasts) all manner of b-flicks and lesser cult films. MST3k's irreve...
