Re: Pastafarian Wedding

All churches are expected to marry members of their congregation. Certain religious groups object to this and insist on their right to be bigots. Expected, but not required? Could they deny performing the marriage for a straight couple, for whatever reason (that is, not for no reason)? I agree that...

Re: Question about Headgear

If you see a man with a beard wearing a hat, you might wonder if he was Jewish or if he had a cold head. If he's wearing a yamulke, you're sure he's Jewish. Ah, but if he's wearing his hair in those noodly ringlets, then he might be Jewish and/or Pastafarian. It's all very confusing. :haha: But yes...

Re: Fake 2nd edition

You can't publish someone else's intellectual property without their permission. And certainly not without a signed contract. Idiot! And of course, the IP is entirely from the mind of the Creator, being divinely inspired scripture. Signed contract might be tough, I hear it's surprisingly hard for w...

Re: UK: Pastafarianism as a religion

Lord Toulson, giving the judgement, wrote that "religion should not be confined to religions which recognise a supreme deity". Toulson describes religion as "a spiritual or non-secular belief system, held by a group of adherents, which claims to explain mankind's place in the univers...

Re: The Video Games Thread

My girlfriend is playing the Sims Medeival, which seems a lot like what I've seen of Europea Universalis (or another one made by the same people, focuses on europe but you get dynsasties and shit), except of course that it's primarily a sims game. But it's fun. The user basically plays the role of &...

Re: Is it Piracy? Political goals of FSMism: opinions, pleas

The separation of church and state are definitely important, and there are absolutely places where it should be challenged. But in terms of the licence photo, I actually might tend towards agreeing with your opponent these days. Or at least, seeing their side. I'm not sure it's the worst thing eithe...

She will most definitely be missed. I know I don't keep up with people here that well, but I looked back through my PMs over the years and sure enough, she was always there with support, interest, and mischief.

Goes without saying, but the forums won't be the same without her. Pesto be upon her.

Re: How many people have read the bible?

What variety is it? For some reason this question makes me think of Bibles (or may scriptures in general) as like Pokemon, and now I want there to be a game that is pokemon with Bibles or scriptures instead of monsters. They can even evolve and everything! Vulgate evolved into King James! Tanak lea...

Re: Announcement regarding the Loose Canon, 2nd Edition

Yes, we're adding to the OP and NP as well, and certainly welcome new additions to those sections. We just wanted to emphasize the three new, non-christian based sections, and get more submissions to fill them out.

Re: What's The Last Movie You Saw?

Just showed In The Loop to the ladypartner last night, very fun flick to me, though it is a little depressing in that it's about idiots (and some perhaps genuinely evil ones) in government starting or failing to prevent war. It's got Peter Capaldi swearing beautifully though, so that's fun. I fancy ...

Re: Loose Canon Submissions - East Asian Material

What Rowan is trying to say is that his favorite color is pink.

Back on topic though, this does inspire me to think about something based on the Heart Sutra from the Buddhist tradition... Short but sweet scripture.

Re: Hierarchy in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

Perhaps there will be a second Prophet, who knows? For the heirarchy, I know that at least in the Coast Guard, the #1 guy is called the Commandant, so that might be a special title for the highest Admiral. The real question is what these officials would do, or talk about, or who they would be talkin...
