I was doing research on Russells teapot for a philosophy class called "Sceince and pseudo-science: thinking critically about weird things" and decided to check wikipedia (fine...it was my first source! You caught me!). As an atheist/agnostic/skepitc, I already knew quite a bit about it but i found the link to "parody religions" and then to the open letter. I used the FSM to prove the point that old books and even heartfelt belief do not constitute proof. I also used this cartoon: http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20070706 I think that you'll like it.
My presentation successfully converted one girl and left quite a few xtians very angry.

Why yes, there are. Look at the main page and click on the "Materials" button in the navigation at the top.

Speaking of pissing off the xtians...Yesterday at the bus stop my gf and i came across two fundies brow beating a teen aged girl because she had the nerve to say that she respects all religions not just the most popular ones. My gf looks at the guy in the jacket that says "jesus is the only way" across the back, crosses her arms, plants her feet and says "why don't you pick on some one capable of defending themselves?" 20 minutes and one missed bus later i was still an atheist, my girlfriend was still pagan (the reverence for nature kind, not the casting spells kind), a teen girl was in awe of rational thought in action and two xtians were so pissed that when i asked for some literature they stomped off shouting "GOD BLESS YOU!" The argument read pretty much like 34 unconvincing arguments for god by August Berkshire. http://augustberkshire.com/index.php/FA ... r-God.html I have to admit that it's nice to meet the xtians who can at least argue.

Obviously, it is a special providence. :fsm:

one of my slightly odd friends converted me, and i instantly felt touched by his noodly appendage and decided this way (now that i have a religion) my christan friends have to give me credit for trying. (besides, the beer volcanos and stripper factory are pretty convincing)

and if alex sees this
he must remind me to get a pirate hat

I think I learned about it while researching religion, but it kinda retreated to a dark corner of my mind for a while, until another person mentioned it, and I remembered, and converted.
