A (paraphrased) quote from one of my college professors:

People ask me why I, as a logical man, believe in God. It's because I find it very illogical that this universe and everything that exists could have somehow spontaneously appeared from nothing. It makes more sense to me that something would be there to create it.

I happen to agree with him, but I don't believe on God. I believe in the FSM. Looking at the world around me, His/Her/It's way of doing things seems to match up a lot better with what I see than with the other deities I know of.

That logic requires a creator for the creator, and a creator for that creator, ad infinitum. :idiot:
"Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens."
("Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.")
-- Friedrich Schiller (1759–1805)
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
-- Philip K Dick

What happens when all the renewable energy runs out?
-- Victoria Ayling

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

I try not to think on it too much, it makes my head hurt.

Actually, depending on how one defines the notion of a "divine deity", one can argue that a deity doesn't need a creator. That argument requires that He/She/It exists outside of time and space. Since it's time that forces upon us the requirement of cause-and-effect, the deity in question wouldn't need a cause since He/She/It exists outside of time. Unless, of course, we're talking of some Tardis-like device that is capable of being created within time then traversing outside of it, but the traversal of a physical entity in and out of timeand space is yet another subject that makes my head hurt.
