I don't pirate movies, but I have downloaded some music from less than legal sources. However, I check iTunes first, if it's not on there, then I'll resort to other measures. If it is, then I'll buy it. That way, I'm not costing them a sale, because I can't get the music on the only place I buy from. I actualy downloaded two songs without checking, and felt so guilty about it that I went back and legally bought one of them, and the other one I already had on CD, albeit a crudy "kids bop"-or-something-like-it version, so I think it's kind of fair.
I do listen to streaming music on the web though, I'm not sure where that lies on the morality scale, but I realy don't care. (I do the same with tv shows, actualy. That might be somewhat objectionable, but it's mostly with canceled ones that they rerun in a cruddy timeslot, showing only a selection of like, ten episodes. And I realy don't feel bad about it if Viacom owns it, I hate Viacom.)

300. Yes, it was pretty cool, and I must say that I enjoyed it, even though it was waaay overstylized, almost entirely innacurate, and King Leonidas had too much of a Scottish accent that kept distracting me. (Should the King of Sparta really sound like a Scottish highlandsman? Is highlandsman a word?) That sort of thing.
A flap of the wings yesterday means big changes tomorrow.
Let's work together to keep the present inevitable.

So yeah, I went and got a blog.

I love those old horror films. The way the girl trips over a twig in 'The Creature' is priceless.

You should check out Cinemassacre’s Monster Madness. This guy reviews and shows clips from one old horror movie every day during October. This is the 3rd year he's done it, so there are like 80+ entertaining little reviews up. Each year he starts with really old movies and gets more recent with each review.

*shudder* Today he did Creepshow. He glossed over this scene but it's easily the most freaked out a movie ever made me in my life. Freaked me out when I was like 8 and watched it, and freaks me out now. Do not watch that scene unless you have a strong stomach.
I believe it's time for mankind to set aside the crutch of religion and embrace morality born of reason and truth. Those crutches have long since proven treacherous when the ground gets slippery.

That scene really bugs me.

I never saw creepshow....... but I thought the scarabs in "the Mummy" were more effective than those cockroaches!
I have a rather dim recollection of "breach" (they called it "L'infiltrato" or "the Mole" in Italy)... must see it again... I liked the po-faced Eric O'Neill character... Ryan Phillipe was pretty good in Gosford Park and Flags of Our Fathers too...

Oh not me. Maybe it's mostly cause I saw Creepshow as a child, but the only reason I even remember that scene in The Mummy is because it reminded me of Creepshow. The Mummy is a CG movie and the scene is just one of 100 special effects, which tend to make an audience lose there sense of immersion. Cockroaches are very real, and it's a whole lot easier for your mind to imagine them bothering you. If you see that whole chapter of the movie, it starts off with just one or 2, here and there.... *shudder* :paranoid:

Strangely, I was not creeped out.

Roaches wanna live too, y'know?

You wanna be creeped out by Roaches? Put 'em in a pan and stick it on the hotplate or gas burner of the oven... they run like mad before giving up the ghost!
we used to do that with the ones we caught in my old flat... not very Buddhist I know... but kinda fun in a sadistic sort of way (I guess we'll all be reborn as Roaches for the next 10 or 20 reincarnations... serve us right!)

The roaches in Creepshow bothered me too, but I saw the film at the tender age of 5, so I guess age plays a role in the reactions to that particular scene.

As to recent films, I saw The Illusionist on dvd and Zombieland in the theater. Loved 'em both.

I saw "A serious man" by the Coen Brothers... I love their subtly grotesque sense of humour... there's something very English about it!
