Let's Play A Game

This new avatar isn't permanent, it's just a placeholder until I get around to making a better one.

Anywho, here's the contest: first person to correctly post where I got the design for my avatar wins a rose.
On your marks . . .

A very old video game, from around the time of the original Zelda.
"Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens."
("Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.")
-- Friedrich Schiller (1759–1805)
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
-- Philip K Dick

What happens when all the renewable energy runs out?
-- Victoria Ayling

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

Either you're being cleverly subtle and I'd like you to elaborate a bit more or you're extremely lucky and need to elaborate a lot more.
No, it's not THAT old.
Notice I didn't say it wasn't older.

EDIT: That original shield still looks a lot like the Bible.

I am neither clever nor subtle. I am old and demented, looking forward to my impending senility.

Well congratz, you accidentally gave yourself and everyone else a big hint.

How do you know it's impending? Don't get your hopes up for nothing.

Nice to hear there's still some lead in it...
"I don't mean to sound bitter, cynical and cruel; but I am, so that's how it comes out." Bill Hicks.
"One should not believe everything one reads on the internet." Abraham Lincoln
"Are you OK?" daftbeaker (<-- very good question, people should ask it more often.)

Alright, I've taken the initiative and left a small hint somewhere.
Oh, I'll not tell you where it is. All I'll say is that it isn't in a post, but it's on the forum.
It's not an outright riddle, so Google is definitely your friend.

I've had my go at it. You're now privy to the sum total of my gamer experience.

See what I did there?

Alright, here's a mini game. If no one gets this one, I'll be very (read "more") disappointed in you all.

I've updated my interests. The hint is in there, but more importantly, the mini game is in there too. The hint is one of the last 5 items on the list, while the mini game is the last. Tell me what the last item on the list references (pretty please with a cherry on top?) and you win . . . uummmm . . . . something blindly chosen from this wallet I found on the ground.
