Forum Clock

Postby StayThirstyMyAguila » Tue Mar 21, 2017 4:45 pm

This forum doesn't use daylight savings time, does it? I keep seeing people on the, "Users Online" bar, but the 'last active' time will be about an hour ago.
Took be about a week to realize that the clocks on the forums are different and I'm NOT going crazier . . . or that I'm not going crazier any faster than before.
So why doesn't the forum clock follow daylight savings time?

The forum uses UTC, just like the rest of the internet.

You set your own timezone according to where you are.

"Are you OK?" daftbeaker (<-- very good question, people should ask it more often.)

That's quite the talent. Have you considered going on "Scotland's Got Talent"?

It's not an hour off for me. It seems to be running right on time.

If you go into your User Control Panel on the forum and set it to the correct time zone, the forum should adjust the time it displays to you accordingly. It is smart enough to account for Daylight Saving's Time. If it doesn't, it's possible the government where you live changed the rules recently on when to adjust for DST; if that happened, you'll need to wait for the forum software to be updated (or was it the server's tzdata package? it's been a long time since I ran a forum).

I always wear a clock on my forearm. Most people do - it's called a watch.

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

Derr... what's a watch?

I haven't seen a watch besides my own around where I live. Most people (that I've seen) prefer to keep their eyes glued to their phones with no clue as to what's going on around them. On the bright side, I can walk in front of them then put on a show while I berate them for getting mad at me for not doing their job of watching where they're going.
