English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

Remo D Belli

The man who designed every drumhead I have ever bought.

30 years, 6 or 7 drum kits (depends on whether you agree with me that I currently own one very large drum kit, or whether you agree with my wife that I actually have two drum kits), every single drumhead.

He died rich, thanks to me.

When I played in a samba drum band, favoured Remo drum skins every time.

Nick Lashaway, a young actor who had appeared in "Girls" and "The X Files" among other things. His mom is a close friend of Mrs. T, who is off-grid and unreachable in the wild hinterlands of Oregon with another close friend of the mom, and will consequently not find out until well after the funeral.

Bob Holman, tireless anti-poverty campaigner, 79, cancer.

Jo Cox MP. Shot and stabbed at a constituency surgery in Yorkshire by a man who is alleged to have shouted "Britain First!" as he was killing her. She was 41, married with two young children, murdered in the course of her job. There is a problem with politics in this country.

Excellent article, Roy. I had heard the news about Ms. Cox' death earlier in the day. Absolutely tragic. From the little I've read about her she seems to have been an exemplary person in both her public and private life. Many of the points raised in the article are equally applicable on my side of the pond. I'll be passing it along.

I don't expect anyone will listen.
