English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

When I played in a samba drum band, favoured Remo drum skins every time.

Nick Lashaway, a young actor who had appeared in "Girls" and "The X Files" among other things. His mom is a close friend of Mrs. T, who is off-grid and unreachable in the wild hinterlands of Oregon with another close friend of the mom, and will consequently not find out until well after the funeral.

Excellent article, Roy. I had heard the news about Ms. Cox' death earlier in the day. Absolutely tragic. From the little I've read about her she seems to have been an exemplary person in both her public and private life. Many of the points raised in the article are equally applicable on my side of the pond. I'll be passing it along.

I don't expect anyone will listen.

Think this is also worth a listen - LBC presenter James O’Brien gave a monologue on his radio show this morning, perfectly capturing the sentiments of many across the UK. As with Roy's article, many things also applicable the other side of the pond:
http://politicalscrapbook.net/2016/06/james-obriens-rant-on-the-murder-of-jo-cox-perfectly-captures-the-state-of-debate-in-britain-today/

As an example:
Convince me if you can, that political debate in Britain in the last couple of years has NOT created an environment in which we find it easy to believe… or possible to believe, that this sort of violence, that this sort of terrorism, could unfold on our streets.

Think it's worth reminding ourselves what Jo Cox said in Parliament last year as MPs debated the Dubs amendment which would see 3,000 child refugees admitted to the UK (despite opposition from the Government).

Jo Cox wrote:"We all know that the vast majority of the terrified, friendless and profoundly vulnerable child refugees scattered across Europe tonight came from Syria.

We also know that as that conflict enters its sixth barbaric year that desperate Syrian families are being forced to make an impossible decision: stay and face starvation, rape, persecution and death or make a perilous journey to find sanctuary elsewhere.

And who can blame desperate parents for wanting to escape the horror that their families are experiencing. The reality in which children are being killed on their way to school, where children as young as seven are being forcibly recruited to the front line and where one in three Syrian children have grown up knowing nothing but fear and war.

These children have been exposed to things no child should ever witness and I know I personally would risk life and limb to get my two precious babies out of that hell-hole"

Given that before she was an MP, Jo Cox worked for Oxfam, perhaps the best way to pay tribute to her is to support Oxfam's current refugee campaign and Stand As One.
