Robert Burns, 258 years young today:
The Immortal Bard wrote:Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o the puddin'-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye worthy o' a grace
As lang's my arm.

The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o need,
While thro your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.

His knife see rustic Labour dight,
An cut you up wi ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin, rich!

Then, horn for horn, they stretch an strive:
Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive,
Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve
Are bent like drums;
The auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
'Bethankit' hums.

Is there that owre his French ragout,
Or olio that wad staw a sow,
Or fricassee wad mak her spew
Wi perfect scunner,
Looks down wi sneering, scornfu view
On sic a dinner?

Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
As feckless as a wither'd rash,
His spindle shank a guid whip-lash,
His nieve a nit;
Thro bloody flood or field to dash,
O how unfit!

But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread,
Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
He'll make it whissle;
An legs an arms, an heads will sned,
Like taps o thrissle.

Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies:
But, if ye wish her gratefu prayer,
Gie her a Haggis

Yarrgh, ye bloody Scotsman! Ye've ruined the bloody poem!! Ye left off the exclamation point at the end!! :facewall:
"Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens."
("Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.")
-- Friedrich Schiller (1759–1805)
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
-- Philip K Dick

What happens when all the renewable energy runs out?
-- Victoria Ayling

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

I also left out the stabbing in the third verse.

(Burns wasn't keen on the exclamation mark. It was probably because it was felt to have made popular by Samuel Johnson, and he felt it was an English affectation.)
"I don't mean to sound bitter, cynical and cruel; but I am, so that's how it comes out." Bill Hicks.
"One should not believe everything one reads on the internet." Abraham Lincoln
"Are you OK?" daftbeaker (<-- very good question, people should ask it more often.)

How do only two people have birthdays today, and yet some days we have 5 lines of usernames made up of random characters/written in a language only androids, specifically androids named Marvin, understand.

Names are written in ASCII / Unicode / whatever and can be parsed in Android, Linux, iOS, Windows, BBASIC, FORTRAN, COBOL...

That was a Hitchhiker's reference. What did you think it was?

Maybe George Orwell.

Of course, George wasn't his real name.

He used a nom de plume.

Just talk English: pseudonym. That really isn't necessary.

I see what you did there.

Apparently I cannot make another post so soon after my last. Which implies that I have the forum-authenticated Last Post.

I saw it too, I was just refusing to acknowledge it.
Why did you have to acknowledge it? :bummer:
