doesnt really look like one but this is in fact a 12 gauge shot gun. A fully automatic 12 gauge shotgun capable of 300 rounds per minute. Comparative to a machine gun this is helplessly slow, but for a shotgun??
It is billed as being the AA12, an urban assualt weapon. Perfect for clearing a deck or blowing holes in your enemies boat with the explosive ammunition (optional)
There is something classic about a sword, but for stoppage, for effectiveness you cannot go past a gun. And a shot gun with whatever the size is called we used to go water buffalo hunting with (four solid steel balls the size of a marble in each cartridge) has got serious stopping power.

Explosive rounds? Nice.......

Too bad they are banned. Oh, well, can't be helped.
Actually, I think I prefer them banned....................

But it's so ugly.

Compare that to a gorgeous, hand finished 36-pounder, with filigree work and wooden, polished trunnions.

Both do the same thing, put big holes in the side of enemy vessels, but the cannon isn't banned, and looks SO much better.

It's all a question of style and panache, and frankly, the AA-12, however technologically advanced looks crap.

I'll stick te me cutlass.

What type of cannons do you prefer?
6, 9, 12, 18 pounders? Long or short? Maybe even carronades?

I have actually touched this cannon. It is currently on display at the artillery museum park here at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, home of the Feild Artillery.

It has been filled with lead. So I am guessing it probably has a low level of radiation, but nothing too dangerous. We havent used nuke rounds since the mid to late eighties. They generate too much tube temperature and you have to retube the gun after shooting three or four rounds, as opposed to thousands of regular HEPD rounds.
