I think Jeremy Irons would be perfect for the Patrician, I can see John Cleese as Vimes, he's so good at the muttered aside. Emma Thompson gets my vote for Sybil. I like Judy Dench, but she's like Sean Connery, perfect for the role 15 years ago. How about Danny Devito as Nobby? Might be too old, but he's perfect otherwise.

I think he'd make an excellent Duck Man, or Bursar, too.

My favourite characters would have to be Quoth, the raven, Sam Vimes and The Grim Reaper. Everybody else is great too. Oh, and Lobsang Ludd.

Lu-Tze is pretty cool too. He's really good in Night Watch.

The best Vimes would have to be Michael Gambon. That lived-in face and the grumpy/impatient/exasperated manner.
I think Matt Damon could do Carrott.
Chris Barrie (Rimmer from Red Dwarf) would be a good Rincewind
Minnie Driver as the Mayor's daughter in Maurice and his amazing rodents

Clint Eastwood when he did Dirty Harry would be perfect for Vimes. he gets the look and the cigarette perfectly.
Archancellor Ridcully could be Mike Myers when he did Fat Bastard in Austin Powers 2 and 3. Maybe with a bit of slimming down.
I know this has gone old, but it just had to be said.

A sad day for Discworld fans, Terry Pratchett has Alzheimer's disease.
