Randomly Generated Motivation
OK, my nephew emailed me this game he says is big at his forum right now...
Based on those motivational posters....
You know, the ones with an inspiring picture, title like "inspiration" or "following through",
and a subtitle like, "because dreams don't pursue themselves", or some silly rot.
Here's the "rules" as he just emailed them to me.
I haven't tried it yet, so we can all find out together if it's a bust or not, eh?
Random Motivations
1., Go to Wiki and select Random Article. The Article title is the poster's title.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
2., Go to Random Quotes, hit "next random quotes" at page bottom, and get the last 4-5 words of the last entry.
That's gonna be the subtitle:
http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
3., Go to Flickr and select the 2nd picture from the last on page reload.
http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
4., Create a motivator and post:
http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/motivator.php
Some of this sounds garbled, but work the bugs out as you go...I guess the idea is to have all components chosen randomly, for surprise-irony effects....
Go for it.

Re: Randomly Generated Motivation

Allright, not impressed so far.
I cheated both times by reloading "random" content till the posters would at least make sense....and the bandwidth for this thread will be horrendous.
And Flikr will prolly delete the files (if print nort purchased) in a few days....
Epic fail.

Bighugelabs will not host, Ken me lad. But I like the idea. I'll give it a shot and host it elsewhere!
EDIT: I took the entire quote, because the quote was super-applicable to my photo. A bit of randomness is here:

Apparently, William Shannahan was the 3rd president of St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa from 1906 - 1915. His nickname was "Big Bill" and he was raised in Williamsburg, Iowa.
Wow. This. Guy. Is. AWESOME.
Not.

I thought this might be pretty lame, but I was surprised by how well it came out.

Re: Randomly Generated Motivation
I had to try a few times before I came up with one that made any sense, also.

I gotta admit I was pretty surprised to see one with my name on it after only three attempts.

I don't know what it means, but I like the picture...

I just emailed the game to my wife - she told me that one of her pictures of our son got over 400 hits as a result. Oh bugger...

I like that one the best, DeTH!
(I never thought any of the 'official' ones made sense, anyway. At least yours is delicious. And random.)

Re: Randomly Generated Motivation
Why thank you, it does indeed look tasty.
WARNING!
Don't look now, but there's nipple in this one. I didn't notice it till afterwards, and I can't be bothered to make a new one at the moment.

Re: Randomly Generated Motivation
Why are you apologising? What's wrong with nipples? Everyone's got at least two!
I've often wondered why women aren't supposed to show our nipples, but men are allowed to show theirs. OK, so we have varying amount of fat behind ours which most men don't have; but we are allowed to show that. Just so long as we cover up the nipples which anyone can see on men anyway.
Weird.
