Pastafarians for Reason
As PK has posted elsewhere,Jon Stewart and the Daily Show are hosting the Rally To Restore Sanity in D.C. on October 30th.
I feel like it would be a totally rad thing to have as sizable a Pastafarian presence as possible. I know most of us probably won't be able to make it, but I think this is the best opportunity for a large gathering of Pastafarians, (especially with a public rally type thing) possible, short of Bobby organizing a convention or rally.
I'm probably just being optimistic and jumping the gun here, but I figured I'd create a central thread for organizational purposes. If there's any of us that live in the Metro-DC area, I always like the idea of people being put up in actual homes, rather than having to worry about hotels. Of course, there are obvious reasons not to do that, but I'm just thinking in general terms here. slightly more realistic may be people pitching in together to share hotel space, saving money for everyone. So say someone drives down from Pennsylvania, and another from North Carolina, but they both split and share a hotel room. Or people from a similar geographic location can pool travel resources.
At the very least, if even two of us show up in D.C., it'd be cool to meet elsewhere before to hang out, and then attend the rally together, as a Pastafarian bloc.

The 4 Ubi's are planning to be there. We've been discussing what to put on our signs.
Re: Pastafarians for Reason
Bobby has a post very similar to Qwerty's on the main page suggesting a Pastafarian meetup at the rally.

Re: Pastafarians for Reason
I had an idea about suggesting this, but it felt weird suggesting something I wouldn't be a part of.
Anyway, good luck! Feels fitting that FSM stands up for sanity... and possibly fear ;)

Please can you give UBK#2 a sign saying 'midgit' and an arrow pointing to her?

Re: Pastafarians for Reason
UDK#2 is on a growth spurt right now (She's 12 now!). If she keeps growing at the rate she has been, I'll be the one who needs the "Midgit" sign. She's considering bringing a sign saying "Is this thing on?"
I've been trying to come up with good sign ideas for the rally. We will probably bring our four favorites. Some contenders:
"Keep your religion to yourself, please."
"What do we want? Sanity. When do we want it? Soon."
"OBAMA is doing pretty OK, under the circumstances"
"This is not a sign"
"I was promised pudding"
Any other suggestions?

What about that King Julien quote that was in your signature? "Hurry, before we all come to our senses!"

How about instead of "Soon." Just "Whenever's reasonable." or "Whatever works for you." maybe "I mean, at some point."
Hard to hit the target between not rushing it and being reasonable, and not being a pushover.

'This sign is intended to spark an intelligent and civil discourse!'
'Every word on this sign is spelled correctly.'
'I'm sane and I have a doctor's note to prove it!'
And an oldie but goodie:
'The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!'

Thinking bout bringing my congregation there on a field trip. I probably could rally a dozen pirates. And Rutgers will pay the bill lol

I want to turn that one into a Keep Fear Alive sign, like "Are you afraid of fear enough?"

If you are able to come down, let us know, so we can make sure to rendezvous there. I know that Pirates should be easy to spot, but I'm guessing it will be really crowded. And it's a big place.

You remembered my sig? [snif] (I miss my sig!)
I think that one is good for the fear rally. I suppose we could stop by that one, Pirates are scary, right? We could help stir up fear of, I don't know, parrots or something.
Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming!

I want to go, but I have to figure out the best way of getting there. There's Amtrak, but I fear that either the local is going to be sloooooooooow, or the Acela is going to be expennnnnnsive. And I don't know anyone who both has a car and is going.

Re: Pastafarians for Reason
Well, research the prices. Replace fear with knowledge.
Alternatively: What's so bad about slow? Just leave earlier and bring a good book or three.
