Rev? Cap'n? Fr? FSMin?
Okay, So, I recently got my ordination plaque in the mail from bobby, and I've started notifying people that I'm open for legal and "spiritual" marriages under the CFSM. But some of the paperwork asks for an honorarium, and I'm not sure what a CFSM minister(?) would be called. A different thread went on about the position of a "Cap'n" so I adopted that for now. But I thought the community should decide.

Actually, I'm a fan of not having the title be "Cap'n," though if that's what a particular clergy person chooses, then that's fine by me. But a Captain generally needs a ship to be a Captain, and that's how they're able to perform marriages, though they may not be able to perform other spiritual duties.
But most of all, I'm all for personal choice and the ensuing variety. So I will abstain from voting since I think all can be valid honorarium (especially Irreverend), except perhaps "hey you." Whatever floats your boat. Er, ship.

I sort-of like 'Monister' and 'Irreverend' just because of the rebellious nature of them, but I'm not sure that the paperwork gurus will.
I'd prefer 'Pasta' or 'Pastaaarrrgghh' to 'Pastor' or 'Reverend' or 'Minister' but then I don't much like any variation on protestant Christian titles (I know it is just prejudice from my upbringing).
I think I'd go for 'Cap'n' just because it is a recognised title and I think that people who are wed by a Cap'n won't have so much (potentially embarrassing) explaining to do, so are more likely to opt for a wedding officiator with that title.
There would be no point in being a wedding officiator with a title that is so weird that no-one opts to be wed by them!

I also came up with
Fryer
Flyer
Fodder
Mutter
I like Pastarrrr
I feel like I'll be dipping between Cap'n, Monister, and Pastarrrr as the occasion fits.

I will refrain from voting since every option is based on a Christian alternative. Cap'n is too close to "Chaplain" for me. And "Hey you" just won't work.
So I'm officially not casting a vote. Let the other parts of the community decide
Edit: Some sort of version of "Flyer" might get my vote

Oh dear, I forgot about the ESL people!
'Cap'n' is, and always has been, a contraction of 'Captain' and nothing at all to do with religion. Ship's Captains have traditionally been allowed to conduct marriages.

Since it isn't a short form I'm accustomed with I'll make my own associations, thank you.

That is a good point. Can we perhaps come up with riffs on other religions? Imam comes to mind, but I have no idea how we would pastafarianize that. Also: Rabbi.

I like "Irreverend" as a title. Kinda sums up a lot about what we're about.
Plus in my favourite books by Jasper Fforde, Thursday Next's brother Joffy is an ordained minister of the Global Standard Deity (basically a merger of all the religions so people can just go with what works for them) and his title is "Irreverend". If it's okay for Jasper Fford, gotta be okay for us.

'Irreverend' has some precedent as a clerical title.
When I decided to leave a diaconate program, I still met up with former classmates on a regular basis due to other obligations. Jazzy introductions (when needed) would go: this is the 'Rev.' X, the 'Rev.' Y, the 'Rev.' Z, the 'ir-rev' pieces, the 'Rev.' ...

I will honor Monkey in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

Good luck to Cap'n Tedward...will you be serving Fish Head Stooo to thee guests?
The smoke wafted gently in the breeze across the poop deck and all seemed right in the world.

It is better to marry than to burn.
